A mere 25 minutes from downtown Heber, and just an hour’s drive from the larger population centers of Park City, Provo/Orem, and Salt Lake City, sits Strawberry Reservoir - the fifth largest lake in Utah with an impressive average capacity of 1,107,000 acre-feet of water. This lake is known as Utah’s premier fishing and boating paradise. Nestled high in the Uinta National Forest of the Wasatch Mountains in Utah, the beautiful Strawberry Reservoir combines convenience and year-round accessibility with the best of outdoor adventure and recreation.
Fishing
Strawberry Reservoir is an unbelievable reservoir where the water exceeds water quality standards, and its tributary streams are an ideal spawning habitat. Approximately 60% of the cutthroat trout in the reservoir result from natural reproduction.
Non-game fish are also in the reservoir. Rainbows stocked in Strawberry Reservoir are sterile so they won't cross with pure-strain cutthroats. The sterile Rainbows grow quickly and are a sport fishing dream come true.
Kokanee also reproduce in the reservoir's tributaries. Management stocks them annually to keep the numbers growing.
Marinas
There are four developed marinas with paved boat ramps: Strawberry Bay Marina, Renegade, Soldier Creek, and Aspen. The Strawberry Bay Marina and Lodge are the closest and easiest for immediate access from Heber City.
Camping
The Strawberry Bay and Soldier Creek complexes are full-service camping developments, including campground loops, sanitary dump stations, day-use areas, group pavilion sites, and marina stores.
