October 2022 Director's Letter

You don’t need me to tell you the labor market is very competitive right now. We've all struggled to fill vacant positions. That’s why taking care of and keeping our current employees is so vitally important. Those who were able to make the chamber lunch this past week had a very special treat as we heard from Jill Shroyer, CEO of Expedition HR, and Kurt Hammel, manager of ski school recruitment at Deer Valley Resort. These two experts shared some great insights on how to attract and keep employees by creating a strong company culture, expressing sincere gratitude, and working with staff to discover new incentives. As employers take the time to really dive into what motivates employees and what they value most, it can lead to some innovative and inexpensive perks for employees.
