John and Shari Badger began Lee’s Marketplace in 1981 in northern Utah with only one store. Today, Lee’s operates five stores throughout Utah. In October of 2016, after a long-time relationship with the Day brothers, the Badgers had the opportunity to come to Heber Valley, and couldn’t be happier with the location.
Matt Wiser, store manager, said when the Day brothers approached the Badgers to come to Heber Valley it was an easy decision because this valley represented many of the core values of the company.
“Heber Valley really fits into what we believe in. We love the home town feel of Heber. We love being in the community as much as possible,” said Wiser.
Lee’s Marketplace runs a variety of community based events and fundraisers, and one of their guiding principles is to keep they funds they raise in the local community. For example, they have a “Lee’s Trees” program in which they plant trees in city parks or neighborhoods as an incentive for customers to use reusable shopping bags. Additionally, just this last fall Lee’s in Heber raised $12,000 for the food back to help locals.
Many Heber Valley customers have come to love the friendly service, the expanded organic produce, and even many of the specialty items such as the gourmet popcorn Lee’s has to offer.
For continuing the spirit of community fostered by the Day family, the Heber Valley Chamber of commerce is please to recognize Lee’s Marketplace for all they do for this valley as the February Business of the Month.
You can find more about the products and services offered online at Leesmarketplace.com and follow the Heber store on Facebook for specials.
