August 2020 Business of the Month: The Homestead Resort
The Heber Valley Chamber would like to recognize the Homestead Resort as our August Business of the Month. The Chamber recently held their annual golf tournament at the Homestead Golf Club and immediately recognized some changes that had been made at the resort including their amazing customer service. The staff on the golf course were phenomenal. They went above and beyond to ensure a seamless event took place on their course.
We interviewed Martin McAllister, the General Manager, who has been with the Homestead Resort since November of 2019. Martin brings with him 15 years of hospitality experience. The owners and Martin were drawn to this property because of the high potential.
The owner’s vision is ambitious and spectacular with a nod to the history, tradition, and timeless events that the Homestead is known and loved for. The owners want to update the property without losing its charm.
The vision for the Homestead is experiential, it is all about the guest experience. From outdoor adventures like snowmobiling, mountain biking, ATV riding, and the reservoirs to on-property experiences like scuba diving, golf, dining, spa, etc. The current plan has potential to offer amazing guest experiences at the resort. There has been discussion about seed to table. Fruits and vegetables will be grown on property and served at the restaurants. There will be a beautiful open lawn at the front of the property with easy access to great food for hosting events.
The Homestead Crater is also a very unique amenity on the property. The Crater just so happens to be celebrating their 25-year anniversary this year.
The Homestead renovation includes two phases; however, 90 percent of the renovation is in the first phase. The second phase includes additional rooms. If everything goes as planned, the first phase should be complete in two years. The first phase includes a renovation and reconstruction of the main building, new pro shop, activities center, and golf paths. The first phase also includes a beautiful event barn. When the renovations are finished the property will be a luxury boutique hotel.
Final words from Martin, “We’re really excited about what is going to happen here at the Homestead. There is still a lot up in the air, please be patient. We are hopeful that this is going to be spectacular, even the locals will want to staycation here.”
The Heber Valley Chamber is proud to recognize the Homestead Resort as the August Business of the Month.
